My name is Michiel Roos. I currently work for MaxServ in Holland. I like tech stuff like Linux, TYPO3, Gumstix and Roombas but I also like to dig in the dirt and try to grow veggies and other things. Some of you may know me as author of nc_staticfilecache and maintainder of the DAM project.

When a record is deleted in TYPO3, most of the times it is not actually deleted. Many tables just set a value of 1 on the 'deleted' field. Some sites can get pretty big as a lot of content is added and removed. This means that some tables will slowly fill up with deleted records. There are also tables that just keep on growing. TYPO3 smooth migration from 4.5 LTS to 6.2 LTS

A lot has changed between TYPO3 LTS 4.5 and LTS 6.2. Many methods, a few viewhelpers and constants have been deprecated. The core now uses namespaces and your extensions should too. Files can now be stored and accessed using the File Abstraction Layer. Just upgrading an existing 4.5 installation to 6.2 may give you some problems due to your extensions not being up to date.
